What makes our wine grapes special?

When you buy grapes from Diamondback Ridge, you’re getting more than clean, premium fruit; you’re getting a partner who understands what boutique winemakers need.

Everything we do is focused on helping you craft wines that turn heads and keep club members coming back for more. Here’s what sets our grapes apart.

Premium quality

We grow a diverse mix of varietals, from Northwest staples to specialty blocks, all carefully matched to our site’s microclimates. The Rattlesnake Hills AVA is known for expressive, well-balanced fruit, and we’re proud to help boutique wineries craft wines that stand out—whether for a club release or a tasting room favorite.

Exceptional terroir

Our vineyards (Diamondback Ridge and our sister site, Bosma Estate Vineyard) sit on virgin ground in the Rattlesnake Hills AVA, part of the award-winning Yakima Valley. With rocky basalt and silt loam soils, 1,410 feet of elevation, and south-facing slopes, the site offers ideal sun exposure, air drainage, and diurnal shifts. Natural “fingers in the terrain and thoughtful row alignment—either true north or 22° off of true north—let us tailor conditions to each varietal’s needs.

Carefully managed & hand-harvested

From precision row orientation to hands-on canopy and irrigation management, we’re focused on growing clean, high-integrity fruit. Every block is hand-picked at peak ripeness, so your grapes arrive crush-ready with the quality and character you’re looking for.

We’ve produced several award-winning wines from their grapes. Their prices are very reasonable compared to bigger name vineyards, yet the farming practices and fruit quality are absolutely on par with the best in the state. You get premium fruit without the premium price tag.

When are wine grapes ready?

Harvest dates vary year to year—but more importantly, they vary based on how you plan to use the fruit.
If you’re making rosé, you may want that Syrah two weeks earlier than your neighbor who’s crafting a bold red.

Late-harvest whites or ice wines? We’ll hang the fruit longer.
We work with each winemaker to make sure your grapes are picked at the right time, not just the average time.

Here’s a general snapshot based on a typical season:

Early to mid-September: Sauvignon Blanc
Mid to late September: Viognier, Grenache, Merlot, Roussanne, Marsanne, Syrah, Muscadelle, Semillon, Malbec
Late September to mid-October: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Petit Verdot, Carmenère, Mourvèdre
